My wife and I have been renting boats from Granville island boat rentals for sometime now. Owning a boat can be a tad bit pricey due to upkeep and mooring costs, but renting one can be easier on the pocket. The rentals are in tip top shape and the staff are amazing as well. I recommend booking a time slot due to the influx of tourists in Granville island, but once u are out on the water with many options as to destinations, nothing is better.

    Unbelievable experience
Boats are maintained to perfection.Well worth the money and a great way to see Vancouver.
Staff are very friendly, efficient and professional. Safety briefing and orientation on the map was clearly instructed and also put my mind at ease as this was my first boating experience.

Granville Island Boat Rentals is a must do when in Vancouver! It is a fantastic way to see the beautiful scenery that surrounds Vancouver. Whether you’re new to boating or a seasoned pro, it is a great way to get out on the water. We headed out to deep cove and will be definitely be back to check out more of the surrounding attractions!

What a great way to spend the afternoon. We have enjoyed crusing around the Granville island and down town Vancouver. The flexibility and easiness of renting a boat is what makes it convenient and fun to go on a boat with less planning to do. The staff is very friendly and helpful in doing what it takes for us to enjoy the trip.

Had a great time renting a boat. We picked up some food in the Granville Island market before our rental so we decided to boat out to Lighthouse Park to enjoy our lunch. This was a lovely spot not to far from the dock where we could bob around and enjoy our lunch in the middle of the ocean with some amazing views of islands, mountains and the city in the distance.
We then took off to do some exploring, first we went into Coal Harbor to check out the city close up and then made our way up in between some mountain fjords called “Indian Arm”. After a few hours we slowly made our way back to the dock taking lots of photos along the way. Amazing day on the water.

Spent a fantastic 3 hours cruising the bay, and heading up to the seal colony. The boat was spotless, and safety explanations thorough and informative. The scenery is really amazing from the water — Vancouver itself and then the views of the inlet we travelled to get to the seal colony. Would highly recommend this if visiting Vancouver.

Great Boat Rental! We brought our 6 month old daughter and they had the appropriate life vest for her. They had recommendations on where to go and the boat we took was very clean and well maintained. We had dolphins swimming along side us during our rental! We really enjoyed our experience with them.

This boat rental offers a fun and affordable way to spend an afternoon on the water. I’ve done this a few times in the past and every time it’s great. You can explore all along the downtown waterfront, it’s incredibly relaxing.

Had heard a lot about this activity and we definitely weren’t disappointed. You have the freedom of Vancouver at your disposal and possibly the most scenic, relaxing and enjoyable way of seeing this beautiful city for an absolute bargain of a price. The staff were absolutely brilliant. With us being strangers and not knowing the city, they told us and showed us all the places that we should check out and it didn’t disappoint. The boats are spotless and if u want to put the foot down you definitely can. Cannot praise this enough. It takes in all the beauty of the city at a brilliant price and with a friendly smile.

Me and three of my friends were visiting Vancouver for a few days and while wandering around Granville Island we spotted the boat rental. We went in to check it out and they told us they were open until sunset. The rates seemed reasonable so we decided to do a little sunset trip. We didn’t go too far but had a great view of the sunset right out in the middle of the bay.

Traveled from US east coast and was looking for a hassle free boat renting experience. I’m VERY glad I came across Granville Island Boat Rentals. The website is easy to navigate and well laid out so you know the prices and options up front. Booking was simple. What impressed me the most was how friendly the staff is, particularly Emma. We were checking the weather a couple weeks in advance, which predicted rain on and off on our boating day. We had to make multiple time switches based on the weather, and Emma was very responsive and willing to make sure our boating experience was the best! I was impressed at the ease of learning how to drive the boat, and their map very well shows you where you can travel to. Overall, very happy with this experience. We would happily recommend this to anybody.

I recently rented a boat from here and really enjoyed it. There was only two of us but we decided to rent the 17ft Hourston Glasscraft as it had a stereo where we could hook our phones up to listen to music.

After some helpful instruction we set off and made our way out into the bay. We drove out past Stanley Park which was cool to see from the water as we had cycled it the day before. Then made our way to the Lighthouse where we had two dolphins chasing our boat, which was amazing!!!

Excellent business, friendly staff very efficient and helpful. The area is just perfect for a few hours on a boat. Highly recommended. My first time was as a complete boating novice and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful.

In June 2016, I traveled to Vancouver BC for a work conference. I arrived a few days early to experience the city. One morning, I look the Granville Island Ferry from downtown Vancouver over to the Granville Island Market (it’s a five minute journey and costs $3.50). The market is wonderful. When you get off the ferry, to your immediate right is Granville Island Boat Rentals. It was such a hot and sunny day I could not help but stop in to see what it was all about. They rent 16, 17 and 18 foot power boats that range from $45.00 – $85.00/hour and the longer you rent the boat the less you pay per hour. I was surprised the cost was so reasonable. You do not need to have a Pleasure Craft Operator Card (although I do have mine) in order to rent. And, if you can drive a car you can operate one of these boats. I reserved one of their 18 foot boats from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. that evening. I took the boat around Stanley Park and motored all the way up to Deep Cove before heading back when I enjoyed the most beautiful sunset. It was an incredible way to see Stanley Park, the Lions Gate Bridge, North and West Van and Deep Cove. The staff were very friendly. I highly recommend it.

  • Dani, Wakefield, United Kingdom

We had such an amazing time! This was the first time we had driven a boat and were a bit nervous but Staff were very friendly and helpful. We went to the waterfall which was stunning and had amazing scenery!

  • Moberly, Vancouver Island, Canada

Great way to unwind and do a pizza run to Bowen Island!!! Had a terrific time and obtained another view of Vancouver and the adjacent water life. Sunset over Stanley park on a Friday evening while under the Lions gate bridge was just another highlight. All made possible by the friendly and helpful staff with easy to use equipment. Thanks especially to Aidan and Lorcan for their help.

  • Dave & Sarah, Van. Island, Canada

“.. This is just a short message to say thank you so much to Granville Island Boat Rentals. We recently hired a boat for a couple of hours and got engaged, the mountains to our left, the city skyline to our right, it was just perfect. We had a lovely tour round, had a picnic and it was just the best time. Also, when we got back and told the owner about our engagement, he was so nice he only charged us for one hour instead of two, that sort of customer service you don’t see too often. So this is a big thanks to you and we would definitely recommend this to anyone living/visiting Vancouver ..”

I know that you went out of your way to provide us with a boat to rent that day, and to let you know that we really appreciated what you did. To those interested in renting a boat at Granville Island, I would highly recommend Granville Island Boat Rentals. The equipment is basically new and service is very courteous and professional. We had a great day on the water. Thank you again ..”
